CEREC
CHAIRSIDE

Benefits, limitations, equipment and digital workflow

01 — INTRODUCTION

Digital restoration in a single visit.

CEREC Chairside connects intraoral scanning, CAD design and CAM fabrication in one workflow. The goal is to move from a prepared tooth to a fitted restoration quickly and accurately and, in suitable cases, without multiple visits.

02 — WORKFLOW

Scan → Design → Manufacture → Finish

Scan

A digital three-dimensional model of the tooth and surrounding dentition.

Design

CAD design of the restoration, adapted to anatomy and occlusion.

Manufacture

Milling or grinding the restoration from a suitable material.

Finish

Sintering, staining, glazing, fitting and delivery.

03 — PRIMESCAN

Fast and accurate digital scanning.

Primescan creates a three-dimensional model of the oral cavity. It is the entry point to the CEREC digital workflow.

04 — PRIMEMILL

On-site restoration fabrication.

Primemill is designed to mill and grind dental restorations from a range of materials. It combines production speed with accurate, high-quality fit.

05 — SPEEDFIRE

Sintering and finishing at Chairside speed.

SpeedFire is a compact system for rapid sintering and finishing of ceramic restorations. The professional source material cites approximately 10–15 minutes for sintering a zirconia crown, depending on its size and volume.

06 — PRIMEPRINT

3D printing within the digital ecosystem.

Primeprint is intended for dental applications such as models, guides and temporary solutions, and integrates into CAD/CAM workflows.

Primeprint
07 — BENEFITS

Speed, comfort, accuracy and aesthetics.

Fewer visits

Suitable treatments can be completed in a single visit.

Digital scanning

Less reliance on traditional impressions and temporary restorations.

Computer-aided design

Greater control over fit, shape and function.

Aesthetics

A range of ceramic materials and patient-specific design.

08 — LIMITATIONS

Not every case should stay chairside.

The system is particularly effective for small to medium restorations. Complex cases may require laboratory time, additional equipment or a combined workflow. A high level of skill, training and proper management of materials and equipment are also essential.

09 — THE TECHNICIAN'S ROLE

Technology works better with a technician in the picture.

The professional material emphasises that involving a dental technician improves the quality of the work, reduces the dentist's workload and enables a more precise, personalised fit — especially in design, aesthetics and complex cases.

10 — VOLFDENT

We bring this model to the clinic.

VolfDent Chairside is built around the dentist and technician working together on site: from scanning and design through fabrication, finishing and fitting. In suitable cases, the patient can complete treatment in about two hours.
